OVERVIEW
Blue Fox seeks an experienced, friendly, self-disciplined, extremely detail-oriented, and tech-savvy tax preparer and specialist. The ideal candidate will have a proactive mindset and a warm approach to client care. To start, tasks will primarily be income tax preparation for individuals, businesses, and nonprofits. If interests and skills align, this role may grow to a deeper tax and compliance support position, including sales tax return preparation, payroll tax responsibilities, and other compliance tasks.
TIME COMMITMENT
This is a full-time position, 30-40 hours/week required. Negotiable, flexible schedule offered, and pay commensurate with experience, education, and your unique value added.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This is a virtual/remote position. The tax specialist must have high-speed internet access, their own computer, a device with a web camera, and a home office or other suitable workspace conducive to phone or video calls. COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
The pay range for this position is $50,000-65,000/year. Increased compensation may be offered based on experience and skills. A flexible, supportive schedule is a primary benefit offered to all our team members. Additional benefits are offered to full-time employees. If selected to advance through the process, we will have a series of video and phone interviews, and you will be required to complete some basic skills tests. ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead the tax preparation process internally
- Collect and organize relevant tax and financial records from clients
- Input data from financial records into tax return software
- Analyze each client’s tax position and devise tax saving strategies whenever possible
- Complete and file tax documents with federal and state agencies
- Act as a representative for clients with applicable agencies as required
- Help build positive, helpful client relationships to promote and expand our services

- An innovative, systems approach to tasks with an eye to improving & streamlining workflow
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in finance or accounting and 5+ years in the field of tax preparation
- Experience with Thomson Reuters UltraTax CS is required; no exceptions
- An Enrolled Agent or CPA designation strongly preferred
- Experience in preparing 1040s, 1065s, 1120 and 1120-S, and 990s
- Experience with sales tax, payroll tax, and other compliance activities is a plus
- In-depth knowledge of applicable tax laws, regulations, and deadlines
- Familiarity with the tax return submission and confirmation process, including how to navigate the IRS and other government entity online platforms
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Professional experience working with confidential and sensitive information
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; advanced Excel skills are a plus
- Superior organizational skills, including time management
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Keen attention to detail
